The Ride of Respect began in 2020 and was founded by David Burrows with the support of local motorcycle enthusiasts who shared a common vision: promoting safety, respect, and community awareness.

Originally, the ride was created to honour frontline workers while helping raise awareness about motorcycles on our roads. At its core, the message was simple: respect one another, respect the rules of the road, and work together to ensure everyone arrives safely at their destination.

Over the years, the Ride of Respect has evolved into something even bigger. Today, it serves as a reminder that respect extends far beyond the road. It is about showing kindness, compassion, and consideration for one another throughout our communities.

This year, the Ride of Respect is proudly dedicated to the memory of Paul Babcock Jr.

​

Anyone who knew Paul knew he was a genuinely kind, generous, and caring individual who touched the lives of countless people. Whether he was helping friends and neighbours here at home or giving back during his travels to places such as El Salvador and Jamaica, Paul always looked for ways to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

​

One organization that was especially close to Paul's heart was Ohana Landing. His unwavering support for their mission made a lasting impact, which is why it felt only fitting to dedicate this year's ride in his honour. The Ride of Respect has proudly supported Ohana Landing for many years, and continuing that tradition while celebrating Paul's legacy makes this year's event especially meaningful.

Paul was also a valued member of the Moose Lodge, where this year's ride will conclude. Gathering there provides us with an opportunity not only to celebrate another successful Ride of Respect, but also to pay tribute to a dear friend, community supporter, and family man whose impact will continue to be felt for years to come.

As we ride together, we do so in the spirit of respect, safety, community, and remembrance. We honour those who make a difference, cherish those we have lost, and continue to promote the message that respect for one another can make our roads and our communities better for everyone.
